Edun Hosts Police Service Commission Delegation

The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, on Monday hosted a high-level delegation from the Police Service Commission (PSC) at the Federal Ministry of Finance Headquarters.

The delegation, led by the Secretary of the Commission, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, briefed the Minister on the PSC’s ongoing reforms aimed at modernising and professionalising the Nigeria Police Force, with particular emphasis on transparent and merit-based recruitment processes, staff welfare, and resource alignment with national security objectives.

In his remarks, Mr. Edun commended the Commission’s efforts and reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s unwavering commitment to equipping and repositioning security agencies as a critical pillar for economic growth.

“The link between security and the economy cannot be overemphasised,” the Minister stated.

“A safe and secure environment reduces fiscal burdens caused by insecurity, protects lives and property, boosts investor confidence, and creates the enabling conditions for sustainable development.”

He assured the PSC of the Ministry’s readiness to work closely with the Commission and other security stakeholders to ensure adequate funding and efficient utilisation of resources allocated to the police reform agenda.

The meeting ended with both parties expressing strong commitment to sustained collaboration in the shared goal of building a more effective, accountable, and citizen-centred Nigeria Police Force that supports the nation’s economic transformation agenda.
