Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ogbon-Inu Taiwo Popoola, head of the State Intelligence Department (SID) at the Ebonyi State Police Command, has passed away while on duty.
The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday during a routine management meeting at the office of the Commissioner of Police in Abakaliki.Eyewitness accounts indicate that ACP Popoola suddenly experienced severe breathing difficulties and began struggling for air midway through the session.
He was immediately transported to the Police Medical Centre at the state police headquarters in Abakaliki, where medical staff attempted resuscitation.
Despite these efforts, doctors pronounced him dead shortly afterward.Initial medical reports suggest the cause of death was cardiac arrest, linked to underlying hypertensive heart disease.
The late officer's body has been transferred to the mortuary at Alex Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital (AE-FUTHA 1) in Abakaliki.
Colleagues have remembered ACP Popoola as a highly dedicated and professional officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with unwavering commitment throughout his career.
