BREAKING: US Imposes Visa Restrictions on Nigerians Undermining Religious Freedom

The United States has unveiled a sweeping visa restriction policy targeting Nigerian officials, individuals, and entities accused of perpetrating or enabling severe violations of religious freedom, particularly the mass killings of Christians by radical Islamic terrorists and Fulani ethnic militias.

In a stark announcement on Wednesday, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared that the State Department will bar entry to anyone who "knowingly directs, authorizes, funds, supports, or carries out" such violations, extending the restrictions to immediate family members where applicable.

The policy, invoked under Section 212(a)(3)(C) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, marks a direct response to escalating anti-Christian atrocities in Nigeria and similar persecutions globally.

Rubio's statement, posted on his official X account, emphasized: "The United States is taking decisive action in response to the atrocities and violence against Christians in Nigeria and around the world.

"This visa policy applies to Nigeria and other governments or individuals that persecute people for their religious beliefs."

The move follows Nigeria's designation last month as a "Country of Particular Concern" (CPC) under the International Religious Freedom Act, highlighting systemic failures to curb genocide-level violence against Christian communities in the North-Central and North-East regions.
