Bandits Shoot Katsina Farmer Three Times Despite Peace Deal with Leader

Barely 24 hours after a fragile peace agreement was meant to protect communities in Bakori LGA, armed bandits shot a resident, Isiya Tako, three times on Friday evening in Lamido village simply because he refused to surrender his mobile phone.

Community sources said Tako pleaded with the attackers, reminding them of the peace pact their leader, Isiya Kwashen Garwa, had personally signed with local authorities, but the gunmen opened fire anyway.

The victim is currently battling for his life at Funtua General Hospital and is expected to be transferred to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Katsina, today for specialist treatment.

Local leaders described the attack as a clear violation of the October 2025 peace accord brokered in Bakori LGA, raising fresh doubts about the agreement’s credibility and whether any real mechanism exists to enforce it or hold the bandits accountable.
