Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued Reverend Ephraim Yakubu, a clergyman who was kidnapped in Plateau State.
The reverend was abducted on 3 December 2025 in front of his residence at Agingi Village, along Rukuba Road, in the Miango area of Bassa Local Government Area.
Acting on intelligence, troops conducting a clearance patrol in the Miango high grounds engaged the kidnappers in a brief firefight at approximately 0740 hours on 4 December 2025.
The gunmen fled under pressure, abandoning their victim.Reverend Yakubu was discovered bound under a rock, bearing injuries sustained during his ordeal.
He was immediately evacuated to the 3 Division Military Specialist Hospital (3 DMSH) in Jos for urgent medical care.
During the operation, troops recovered one locally fabricated rifle and a magazine loaded with eight rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The Nigerian Army has intensified efforts to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
