AFCON 2025: Uzoho, Onuachu start as Chelle makes eight changes to Eagles’ line-up against Uganda

Eric Chele, the Super Eagles head coach, has opted for a heavy rotation to the team’s starting line-up for the final group game against Uganda at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Franco-Malian coach makes eight changes to the team that started the 3-2 victory over Tunisia in the previous match.

Nigeria are through to the second round of the competition with two victories from their first two games, and only Victor Osimhen, Calvin Bassey, and Bruno Onyemaechi retained their spots from the last game.

Francis Uzoho replaces Stanley Nwabali in goal, while Igoh Ogbu comes in for Semi Ajayi at centre-back. Ryan Alebiosu gets his debut for the Super Eagles, playing at right back.

The midfield trio will be Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Basiru and Samuel Chukwueze, while Paul Onuachu and Moses Simon.

The Super Eagles take on Uganda at 5 pm Nigerian time on Tuesday.

Nigeria are top of Group C with six points. Tunisia are second with three points, while Tanzania and Uganda are third and fourth respectively with one point each.

Super Eagles Starting XI: Francis Uzoho, Ryan Alebiosu, Calvin Bassey, Igoh Ogbu, Bruno Onyeamaechi; Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Basiru, Samuel Chukwueze; Paul Onuach
