The Federation of International Football Associations, FIFA, has confirmed clubs can now release their players latest December 15 for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.
FIFA’s decision will now ease concerns across European
clubs, with the majority of them set to lose their players for the biennial
competition.
Clubs were earlier expected to release invited players two
weeks before the start of the competition.
However, after a fruitful deliberation between FIFA, CAF,
and other major stakeholders, an agreement was reached to push the release date
back by a week.
The agreement could, however, affect the majority of the
countries, which have set up friendly games ahead of the preparation.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles against the Pharaohs of Egypt, scheduled
for Sunday, 14 December, is now doubtful.
Morocco will host the competition from 21 December 2025 to
18 January 2025.
