An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Kundi Dauda Abubakar, was injured on Saturday when suspected criminals ambushed a police raid team in Atuman Fulani settlement, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred around 7:00 a.m. on December 21, 2025.
The operation was launched based on credible intelligence regarding the hideout of suspects involved in a November 25 attack on police officers at the Divisional Police Officer’s quarters in Aujara, Jahun LGA, where the assailants stole a riot gun.
Led by ACP Abubakar, the team stormed the location, only to be met with an ambush as the suspects unleashed a barrage of arrows.
ACP Abubakar was struck by an arrow and immediately evacuated to Jahun General Hospital, where he received treatment and is now in stable condition.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, police shot and injured two suspects, who fled the scene with bullet wounds.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to track down the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen riot gun.
The incident shows ongoing security challenges in parts of Jigawa, including armed attacks on law enforcement.
