Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has vowed that any attempt to rig the 2027 election will be resisted lawfully and legitimately.
Speaking in Enugu on Wednesday, Obi called for early
verification of academic records of candidates to avoid pre-election disputes.
Obi spoke while formally announcing his defection to the
opposition coalition backed African Democratic Congress, ADC.
He said: “We have all watched those who benefitted from our
democracy now becoming accessories of our democracy either through coercion or
gangsterism to the opposition.
“We can’t allow this to happen, we will resist it. We now
see people celebrating electoral fraud publicly.
“And we are saying that those planning to rig elections in
Nigeria come 2027, we will resist it by every means lawful and legitimate.”
