Stray Bullet from Customs Officer Injures Two Passengers at Oyo-Osun Border


Two Fulani cattle traders were wounded on Wednesday, November 27, when a Nigeria Customs Service officer allegedly fired a stray bullet that pierced a moving pickup truck along the Oyo-Osun border.


The incident occurred as Aderoju Jamiu and his brother Amuda Kabir were returning from Ago-Are Market in Okaka town in a Toyota pickup loaded with cattle. 


Eyewitnesses said the customs officer, on routine patrol, opened fire with an AK-47 rifle, targeting the vehicle for unknown reasons.


The bullet shattered the windscreen and hit two passengers riding in the open back: Musa Sule and Idris Lawal.Both victims were immediately rushed to General Hospital, Okaka, where medical sources say they are responding to treatment and are in stable condition.


The officer involved has been disarmed, arrested, and is currently in custody as the Nigeria Customs Service launches a full investigation into the shooting, security sources confirmed.
