Gunmen suspected to be members of the dreaded Lakurawa terrorist group stormed a Nigeria Immigration Service checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa, Maje border axis of Bagudo Local Government Area, killing three officers in a midnight attack on Wednesday.
The assailants, who struck around midnight, opened indiscriminate fire on the officers on duty before fleeing into nearby bushes, multiple sources confirmed to Channels Television on Thursday, November 28, 2025.
The attack has sparked fresh panic among residents of border communities in the area, already reeling from repeated assaults by the same group.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “They came in large numbers and started shooting sporadically. Everyone ran for dear life.”
The latest incident comes barely three weeks after Lakurawa gunmen killed a Nigeria Customs Service officer in the same Maje border corridor and set the camp ablaze, torching several official vehicles.
Efforts to get an official reaction from the Nigeria Immigration Service in Kebbi State were unsuccessful as at the time of filing this report, while the Kebbi Police Command described details of the attack as “still sketchy.”
Security sources say investigations are ongoing as the Lakurawa terror gang continues to unleash violence on security personnel and civilians across parts of northern Kebbi State.
