Former Osun Deputy Governor and ex-APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, on Thursday became the first aspirant to purchase the party’s ₦50 million Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for the August 8, 2026, governorship election.
APC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Nze Duru, confirmed the development to The PUNCH: “Yes, it’s true, he’s the first to pick the forms.”
Omisore, mobbed by supporters in customised attire at the APC secretariat in Abuja, declared: “This is about responsibility to rebuild Osun, restore trust, and chart prosperity.”
The move kicks off a heated APC primary contest scheduled for December 13, 2025. Form sales began November 12, with submissions due December 1. Only members current on dues until February 2025 are eligible to vote or contest.
Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke (PDP), seeking re-election, dismissed internal crises as “family affairs.” His spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, quoted him: “We’re cruising to landslide victory stay committed.”
With Omisore’s entry, Osun’s 2026 guber battle is officially underway.
