Security operatives in Kaduna State have rescued 17 underage children and arrested three suspected traffickers attempting to move the minors out of the state.
The Kaduna State Police Command disclosed that the operation followed credible intelligence on suspicious activity under the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.
Command spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said: “On November 12, 2025, at about 4:00 a.m., detectives from Danmagaji Division acted swiftly on intelligence, rescuing 17 children of various ages who were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other destinations.”
The suspects—Musa Shuaibu, 21, from Funtua, Katsina State; Sani Mamman, 23, from Ingawa, Katsina State; and Mubarak Ismail, 20, from Unguwa Uku, Kano State, allegedly confessed to sourcing the children from different locations for onward transport.
All rescued children are in good health and under police protection while efforts continue to locate their families.Commissioner of Police Rabiu Muhammad praised the division’s prompt action and reaffirmed zero tolerance for child trafficking.
He warned parents against falling for promises of better opportunities in cities and urged vigilance, saying: “Report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station.”
The suspects will face prosecution upon conclusion of investigations.
