Northern Governors Set for Emergency Summit on Regional Security Crisis

The 19 governors of Nigeria's northern states are gearing up for a high-stakes emergency meeting this Saturday, November 29, to address escalating security threats plaguing the region.

Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Nasarawa State Governor, revealed details of the gathering in an exclusive phone interview with Daily Trust.

The summit, to be held in Kaduna, will also include prominent traditional rulers and focus on forging a collective strategy to combat ongoing security challenges.

"The meeting aims to develop a unified approach to tackling security concerns affecting the region and chart the way forward on these critical matters," Ahemba stated.

He emphasized that bold, decisive actions would emerge from the discussions to safeguard northern communities.

Highlighting Nasarawa's initiatives, Ahemba noted that the state has already convened its own emergency security session to preempt potential threats and maintain stability.

He urged citizens nationwide to play their part by sharing vital intelligence on suspicious activities with security forces, underscoring that community vigilance is key to curbing criminal elements.
