Soldiers of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) on Thursday night successfully ambushed and neutralized several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists along the Banki–Kumshe road, a known smuggling and logistics corridor linking Nigeria and Cameroon.
The fierce encounter took place at approximately 2020 hours when troops on routine patrol intercepted a group of ISWAP elements transporting supplies along the strategic route.
After a brief but intense exchange of fire, an unspecified number of terrorists were killed, while surviving members fled into the surrounding bush in total disarray, abandoning their cargo.Items recovered from the scene include:
4 bicycles (used by the terrorists for mobility)
8 × 25-litre jerrycans filled with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
12 bags of surgical intravenous drips
Assorted motorcycle spare parts
Large quantities of foodstuff and other logistics materials
Military sources described the operation as a significant blow to ISWAP’s supply chain in the axis, disrupting the movement of fuel, medical supplies, and food, and mobility assets critical to sustaining terrorist activities in the Lake Chad region.
The latest ambush further demonstrates the renewed aggressiveness of Operation Hadin Kai troops in denying terrorists freedom of movement along Nigeria’s border communities.
