Insecurity: Tunji-Ojo Says Nigeria Ready to Confront Challenges

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has declared that Nigeria is fully prepared to tackle emerging security threats, following an unscheduled inspection of facilities of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Fire Service in Abuja.

The minister, who visited the FCT Command of the NSCDC and the Federal Fire Service station in Wuse on Thursday, said President Bola Tinubu has issued clear directives for all agencies under the ministry to be optimally positioned for effective service delivery.

He commended the ongoing construction of a modern training ground for the NSCDC in the FCT, stressing that continuous training and capacity building remain critical to overcoming the nation’s security challenges.

However, Dr Tunji-Ojo expressed dissatisfaction with the poor condition of the Federal Fire Service station in Wuse, directing its leadership to immediately address the identified shortcomings.

Reaffirming the federal government’s unwavering support for paramilitary agencies, the minister urged personnel to carry out their duties with the highest level of professionalism and respect for citizens’ rights.

He warned that such unannounced inspections will continue nationwide to guarantee that Nigerians receive nothing short of excellent service from agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
