Ned Nwoko, the Nigerian lawmaker, has alleged that the police once arrested some of his wife Regina Daniels’ family members after she instigated a commotion at an Abuja hotel.
Speaking at a recent gathering of the Kay Hikers Club, a social
hangout club for young people, Nwoko recounted an incident where Daniels called
him, demanding he intervene in a dispute involving the hotel owners and a
guest.
According to the senator representing Delta north,
Regina had lodged at the hotel for four days, engaging in a period of sustained
“drinking and smoking” with her acquaintances, including her brother.
The situation escalated, Nwoko claimed, when the actress
informed him that another hotel occupant had slapped her.
In response, she allegedly used her vehicles to block the
two main hotel gates, preventing anyone from entering or leaving.
Nwoko said he refused his wife’s request. However, the
police were eventually called to the scene.
“They took this place for four days. And it was four days of
partying for them. It was four days of drinking and smoking and all that goes
with it. As a lawyer, I have evidence. I have a level. I have a standard. The
fact that they were here between the 9th and the 13th or so, and they had
drinks and drugs, was documented. We have written police statements,” he said.
“The fact that they also had fights with the owners of this
hotel and guests is also documented. In one of those days, Regina called me to
say that she blocked the two gates and that I should call the police
commissioner that nobody leaves the hotel. I asked her for what? She told me
that her doctors came to see her and somebody’s husband slapped her, and that
she did not want anybody to leave or enter the hotel.
“She told me that she used some of her cars to block the
entrance of the hotel. She did not do what I asked until the police came. She
blocked the gates for over two hours.
“And some of them were arrested – Regina’s brothers and
sisters were arrested.”
Nwoko and Regina’s conflict began in October when a viral
video showed the actress in tears, accusing her husband of domestic
violence.
The lawmaker later fired back, claiming his wife
was struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.
Daniels later admitted to
using hard drugs but accused Nwoko of orchestrating her addiction as part of a
pattern of control and manipulation.
