Motorists and residents were met with a horrifying sight on Tuesday as five badly decomposed male bodies were discovered dumped along the Abuja–Kaduna expressway, close to the FCT–Kaduna boundary in Tafa Local Government Area.
Security correspondent, Zagazola Makama reports that the victims, all unidentified, were found lying face-down with their eyes blindfolded using black cloth, indicating they were likely executed elsewhere and later dumped at the location.
Police operatives who rushed to the scene recovered two spent AK-47 shells and an Android phone near the bodies. Photographs were taken for investigative purposes.
Owing to the advanced state of decomposition and the associated public health risk, the Chairman of Tafa LGA, Hon. Danladi T. Iyah, ordered immediate burial at the site.
The burial was conducted by the local Social Welfare Department in the presence of the Hakimi of Garam and the Village Head (Dagachi).
Security sources confirmed that intensive investigations are underway to identify both the victims and the perpetrators behind the gruesome killings.
The discovery has heightened fear among travellers plying the ever-busy Abuja–Kaduna highway, with many calling for increased security patrols in the area.
