The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (Northern States and FCT), Rev. John Hayab, has revealed that one of the parents of the schoolchildren abducted in Niger State has died from a heart attack triggered by the trauma of the kidnapping.
Rev. Hayab disclosed the tragic development on Tuesday while appearing on Arise Television’s Politics Today programme.
The deceased parent, identified simply as Mr Anthony, reportedly collapsed and died after receiving no positive news about the safety and release of his abducted child.
The revelation has heightened anxiety among families of the remaining victims still held by the gunmen, with many parents said to be battling severe emotional and health challenges.
Speaking on the programme, Rev. Hayab urged the federal and state governments to intensify efforts to secure the immediate and unconditional release of all abducted children, warning that more parents may lose their lives if the ordeal is prolonged.
The abduction, which occurred last week in Niger State, has drawn widespread condemnation, with security agencies still working to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
