The Federal Government has launched the 2025–2026 wheat dry-season farming initiative in Borno State, aiming to empower 800,000 farmers across 16 states with support to cultivate half a hectare each.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, announced that successful implementation could yield wheat valued at over ₦100 billion.
Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, commended the federal intervention for enhancing farmer security and boosting food production.
He noted that the 2025 wet-season farming enabled most farmers in the state to harvest enough food to last 12 to 18 months.In Borno, 6,000 farmers are participating, targeting 3,000 hectares under the programme.
