Eight police officers from Kogi State, deployed to Anambra ahead of the 2025 governorship election, are receiving treatment at a Lokoja hospital following a single-vehicle accident on a Kogi highway Monday morning.
The officers, part of a security contingent from the Kogi State Police Command, were injured when their vehicle crashed.
Those hospitalized include Insp. George Nkoyo, Insp. Edith Kechere, Insp. Bright Emmanuel, Insp. Ogudele Adeola, Insp. Ibrahim Fatima, Insp. James Ifeoma, Insp. Dansuma Hassan, and Insp. Hope Samuel.
All are admitted at the State Specialist Hospital in Lokoja and reported to be in stable condition, responding well to treatment.
Several other officers sustained minor injuries and have since been treated and discharged. They include: Insp. Abdullahi Mariam, Insp. Amodu Latama, Insp. Ameh John, Insp. Christina Shiaka, Insp. Owonari Kuriyatu, Sgt. Ochogwu Godwill, Cpl. Joy Akanya, and PC Joy Samuel.
The Kogi Police Command is closely monitoring the incident and will provide updates as needed. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to deploying sufficient security personnel to Anambra for the upcoming election.
