COAS Visits Wounded Troops in Kaduna, Vows World-Class Medical Care

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede Waidi Shaibu, on Friday 21 November 2025 visited soldiers recovering from battlefield injuries at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, during his maiden operational tour of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.

Speaking directly to the wounded troops, the COAS praised their gallantry and sacrifice, assuring them that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to providing the best possible medical care until they achieve complete recovery.

“I have been in this same ward before, wounded in action, so I know exactly what you are going through,” Lt-Gen Shaibu disclosed. “You are in one of the best military medical facilities in the country. Rest assured that everything needed for your treatment and rehabilitation will be provided.”

He urged the troops to strictly follow all medical instructions and promised that improving the welfare of personnel and their families remains a top priority under his leadership.

The Army Chief commended the Medical Director, Brigadier General Godwin Ogoh, and the entire staff of the hospital for their professionalism and dedication.

Accompanied by principal staff officers from Army Headquarters, he inspected ongoing upgrades at the facility.

Continuing his tour, Lt-Gen Shaibu proceeded to Headquarters Sub-Sector 4, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, along the Kaduna–Abuja Highway, where he interacted with troops on the ground, assessed their operational readiness, and boosted morale ahead of continued counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism operations in the North-West.
