Bandits returned to Sado community in Morai ward, Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State, on Wednesday night, injuring one resident and abducting several others in a brazen assault.
This marks the second attack on the same community in less than 10 days, heightening fears among locals already reeling from persistent insecurity.
Eyewitnesses reported that the heavily armed assailants stormed the village around 11:00 p.m., shooting sporadically to instill panic before rounding up victims.
“The gunmen operated for over an hour without resistance. They took away young men and women, and one person was shot in the leg while trying to escape,” a community source told reporters.
No group has claimed responsibility, and security operatives are yet to issue an official statement.
Residents have decried the escalating wave of banditry across Northwest Nigeria, calling on federal and state authorities to deploy sustained military presence and intelligence-driven operations to curb the menace.
The latest incident adds to a grim tally of abductions and violence plaguing Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, and Kaduna states in recent months.
