The Nigerian Army has categorically dismissed viral online reports alleging the abduction of Brigadier General M. Uba, Commander of the 25 Task Force Brigade, during a terrorist ambush in Wajiroko, Azir Multe, Damboa LGA.
In reality, General Uba led his patrol team, comprising troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members through intense insurgent fire while returning from a successful operation near Sambisa Forest.
The soldiers responded with overwhelming firepower, routing the attackers and forcing them to retreat in chaos.
The encounter claimed the lives of two brave soldiers and two valiant CJTF operatives, who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation. Army Headquarters extended condolences to their families and praised the troops’ gallantry.
“The Brigade Commander is safe and led his men back to base,” the statement emphasized, urging the public to ignore fabricated narratives circulating on social media.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu (NAM), hailed the troops’ courage and sacrifice, reaffirming their critical role in securing Nigeria amid one of the country’s most volatile conflict zones.
