Anambra State government has approved the establishment of 30 public schools across the state.
This was part of the decision of the Anambra State executive
council meeting held, Wednesday.
A press release by the state Commissioner for Information,
Law Mefor, PhD, disclosed that the schools would be built in communities where
no public schools hitherto existed.
Part of the press release read: “Various significant
decisions were made at the 22nd Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC)
meeting, which took place on November 12, 2025, at Light House Awka.
“The council agreed to build an additional thirty new
primary schools across communities after receiving the report of communities
lacking public primary and secondary schools.
“This will deepen the impact of the education programmes of
the Solution Government and ensure that every community in the state benefits
from the Soludo administration’s free education policy.”
Other decisions reached at the meeting included: the
adoption of the 2026-2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), which paved
the way for the 2026 Annual Budget to be presented to the Anambra State House
of Assembly.
This, it said, will guarantee that the 2026 Appropriations
Bill is assented to by December 31st, 2026, at the latest.
The council also commended the Independent National
Electoral Commission, NEC, its chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for the conduct
of last Saturday’s election, while also scoring the conduct high in integrity.
It said: “The Council examined the November 8, 2025, Anambra
State governorship election, in which Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo CFR,
the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was decisively
re-elected by an extraordinary 73%, winning in 21 of the 21 local government
areas.
“The council stated that this proves the hypothesis that
electoral success results from providing value and development to a people.
“The Council committed to rededicate themselves to duty and
to finish strong, and they also expressed gratitude to Ndi Anambra for their
faith in Governor Soludo and for their excellent conduct before, during, and
after the governorship election.”
