Akwa Ibom Gov Sacks Two Aides for Defying Order on PDP Convention

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has sacked two political appointees for disobeying his directive by attending the recent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The affected aides are:

Mr Joseph Jacob Ikpak, Senior Special Assistant on Support Services.

Mr Felix Ekuri, Special Assistant on Neighbourhood Watch.

A brief statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, confirmed that their appointments were terminated with immediate effect.

The governor had reportedly instructed his political appointees and party members in the state to stay away from the controversial convention, which was boycotted by a section of the party and later suspended by a Federal High Court order.

The sack is the first major disciplinary action taken by Governor Eno since the PDP’s protracted leadership crisis escalated last week.
