The 2025 Joint Annual Review (JAR) Conference for Nigeria’s health sector opened today in Abuja, launching the second edition of this pivotal policy and accountability gathering.
Under the theme “All Hands.One Mission.Bringing Nigeria’s Health Sector to Light,” the event builds on last year’s foundation to assess progress, pinpoint challenges, and align stakeholders on a shared path to better health for every Nigerian.
Key highlights include:A comprehensive review of sector performance against core indicators.
The signing of an updated Health Sector Compact, now expanded to formally include Local Government Areas (LGAs), private sector players, traditional and religious leaders, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)—broadening partnerships for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The conference features five Spotlight Sessions targeting urgent priorities:
MAMII – Crashing Maternal Mortality
Tackling Corruption in the Health Sector
Navigating ODA Funding Shifts for Health (with ATM Technical Working Group case study)
Advancing Local Manufacturing of Life Sciences Products and Market-Shaping Initiatives
Health Sector Portfolio Expenditure Review
Government officials, development partners, and civil society representatives will engage in plenary and technical discussions to bolster system resilience and fast-track equitable, sustainable healthcare across Nigeria.
