The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued a stern notice addressing the unauthorized use of its premises, including hostels and other facilities, for filming videos, skits, vox pops, and other cinematographic activities.
The directive, released by the UNILAG Communication Unit, underscores the need for prior approval to ensure safety, maintain decorum, and protect the institution’s reputation.
The university has observed a surge in the use of its iconic campus locations for media productions without proper authorization.
To regulate such activities, UNILAG has reiterated that all individuals students, staff, or external collaborators must adhere to established procedures before conducting any filming or content production on campus.
These guidelines are designed to safeguard academic and residential spaces while upholding the university’s image.Requests for filming approval must be submitted to the Communication Unit, located on the 7th Floor of Senate House, UNILAG, Akoka.
The university emphasized that while it supports creativity and responsible expression, compliance with these protocols is non-negotiable to ensure order and safety.
Failure to adhere to this directive may result in disciplinary action or restrictions, though specific consequences were not outlined.
