FG Boosts Ties with Islamic Development Bank to Fast-Track Road Infrastructure Projects

The Federal Government of Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to accelerate the completion of critical road and bridge projects nationwide.

Minister of Works, David Umahi, made this pledge during a meeting in Abuja with a delegation from the IsDB Regional Hub in Nigeria, led by Operations Team Leader, Mr. Ibrahim Chalive.

The discussions focused on strengthening partnerships between the Federal Ministries of Works, Finance, and the IsDB to fund and execute key components of the administration’s Four Legacy Road Projects.

Umahi emphasized that infrastructure is a cornerstone of economic growth under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, driving job creation, economic emancipation, and enhanced mobility for goods and people across the country.

He highlighted the Ministry’s dedication to transparent, innovative, and cost-effective project delivery.

Umahi praised the IsDB for its longstanding support and partnership in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector, describing the visit as a vital step toward building on existing achievements and expanding cooperation.

In response, Mr. Chalive expressed the IsDB’s satisfaction with the Ministry’s reforms in engineering design, quality assurance, and project management, reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to providing financial and technical support to bolster Nigeria’s infrastructure.

Both parties agreed to form a joint technical team to identify priority areas and establish a framework for collaboration, ensuring accountability, transparency, and timely project delivery.

This partnership is expected to significantly advance Nigeria’s road infrastructure development, aligning with the government’s broader economic goals.
