Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE (OPEP), alongside Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, arrested two suspected gunrunners and recovered 1,207 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
Acting on intelligence from an agency in Plateau State, the troops intercepted Abdullahi Balarabe, 40, and Shafaatu Abdullahi, 18, at a checkpoint.
The couple was allegedly transporting the ammunition, hidden in their vehicle, to armed groups in the North West.
The suspects and seized items are under investigation to uncover other members of the gunrunning network. Maj.-Gen.
Folusho Oyinlola, General Officer Commanding 3 Division and OPEP Commander, praised the troops’ vigilance and inter-agency collaboration, reaffirming the military’s commitment to disrupting criminal networks and ensuring peace in the region.
