Tinubu Vows to Crush Banditry, Boost Security Nationwide

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s resolve to combat banditry and other criminal activities plaguing Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions.

Speaking through Mohammad Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, at an All Progressives Congress (APC) interactive session in Bida, Niger State, Tinubu assured citizens of enhanced security measures to protect lives and property, paving the way for national development.

The event, held over the weekend in preparation for the November 1 local council elections in Niger State, also saw the inauguration of the APC Campaign Council, chaired by Idris.

The minister conveyed Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring safety across Niger State and beyond, stating, “Security agencies will leave no stone unturned to restore peace to our communities.”

Addressing the audience, Idris urged Nigerians to trust in Tinubu’s reform agenda, asserting that the economy is on an upward trajectory.

“This is just the beginning of better days ahead,” he said, calling for patience and faith in the administration’s policies.

The event was tempered by recent banditry attacks in Niger North Zone C, prompting Idris to scale down celebrations and offer prayers for victims.

“We planned to celebrate, but in solidarity with our brothers and sisters affected by banditry, we chose restraint and pray for their comfort,” he noted.

Idris donated ₦100 million to the campaign council, allocating ₦10 million to each of the eight local government councils in Niger South Senatorial District and ₦20 million for women and youth initiatives across Zone A.

He expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects for the upcoming elections, urging party members to campaign peacefully and embrace brotherhood, in line with Tinubu’s directive to avoid violence.

“This is democracy, not bloodshed,” Idris emphasized, advocating for unity and peaceful coexistence.
