Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, through his Deputy, Joel Salifu, paid a condolence visit to the Ejeh of Ibaji and Chairman of Ibaji Area Traditional Council at his residence on Wednesday, following a devastating boat accident on the River Niger.
The governor expressed solidarity with the affected families and assured the community that the state government is fully committed to exhausting all efforts to rescue the remaining victims.
According to reports, the Kogi State Government reported six additional deaths, bringing the total number of casualties to 26, as confirmed by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo.
The monarch praised the governor’s visit as a heartfelt demonstration of his care and concern for the people of Ibaji.
In a related development, President Bola Tinubu extended his condolences to the government and people of Kogi State over the tragic incident that occurred on Tuesday in Ibaji Local Council.
The Kogi State Government had earlier expressed profound sorrow over the accident, highlighting the loss and its impact on the community.
