Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has claimed that certain politicians and businessmen in the South-East are against the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking during a solidarity visit to Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) facility in Abuja, Iwuanyanwu stated that these individuals believe Kanu’s release would disrupt their political and business interests.
The visit, alongside other Ohanaeze Ndigbo executives, was to reaffirm support for Kanu, who has been in detention since 2021 on charges of treasonable felony.
Iwuanyanwu emphasized the need for unity among Ndigbo to secure Kanu’s release and urged the federal government to pursue dialogue to resolve the matter.
