Maj.-Gen. Chinedu Nnebeife, General Officer Commanding 2 Division and Sector 3 Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMA, spearheaded a successful rescue mission in Kwara, a statement released on Saturday revealed.
During an operational visit to Patrol Base Babanla on Thursday, Nnebeife led troops into Babasango Forest, rescuing two kidnapped victims.
The victims were handed over to Oba Pius Oluwole Oni Dofin, the traditional ruler of Idofin Odoeshe Ayekale.
The operation followed a deadly bandits’ attack near Idofin in Omu-Aran LGA, where three traders were killed in Olegbede village.
Oba Oluwole linked the attacks to the community’s proximity to Babasango Forest and urged for continued military presence.
Maj.-Gen. Nnebeife expressed condolences to the royal father and reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ongoing operations to rid the forest of bandits and other criminals.
