Kano State Government has signed landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Tricell Solar Solutions and IRS Green Energy Limited to boost renewable energy development.
The agreements, formalized at the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NERIF) 2025 in Abuja, were supported by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) for technical and coordination assistance.
Nazir Halliru, Director General of Kan-Invest, represented Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf at the signing, emphasizing that these investments advance Kano’s goals of providing clean, affordable energy, fostering local manufacturing, and creating jobs.
IRS Green Energy will establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing plant, while Tricell Solar Solutions will build a 500MW facility, positioning Kano as a regional hub for renewable energy and green industrial growth.
Vice President Kashim Shettima opened the forum, and REA’s Managing Director, Abba Aliyu, reiterated the agency’s commitment to supporting state-led renewable energy initiatives through policy stability and investor confidence.
Kano State thanked REA and its private partners for their trust, pledging a supportive investment environment.
These projects mark a significant step toward establishing Kano as a leading renewable energy and green manufacturing hub in West Africa, driving sustainable progress and prosperity.
