A Kano Magistrate Court has directed the Hisbah Board to facilitate the marriage of TikTok stars Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira Yar Guda within 60 days, following their appearance in viral videos deemed “indecent” by the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board.
The videos, showcasing romantic interactions, were ruled to violate the state’s moral and religious standards.
On Monday, Magistrate Halima Wali ordered the marriage, warning that non-compliance within the 60-day period would constitute contempt of court.
The court also tasked the Chairman of the Kano State Films and Video Censorship Board with overseeing the ruling’s execution.
According to Daily Trust, the TikTok duo faced charges for producing and sharing obscene online content.
Mai Wushirya had previously been remanded after videos showing compromising interactions with Yar Guda gained widespread attention.
Authorities stated that such content breaches Kano’s laws against sexually suggestive materials.
