Hon. Ango Sadiq Abdullahi, the representative for Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, has formally resigned his membership from PDP, effective immediately.
The announcement, made public this morning via social media and confirmed through official channels, has sent ripples through Nigeria's political landscape, with many speculating a swift defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Abdullahi, 42, a first-term lawmaker and son of prominent Northern Elders Forum convener Prof. Ango Abdullahi, cited "irreconcilable differences in vision and leadership direction" in his resignation letter addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Sabon Gari.
Sources close to the lawmaker revealed that internal party squabbles, particularly over resource allocation and candidate selection for upcoming polls, played a pivotal role in his decision.
"After deep reflection, I believe my constituents deserve better representation aligned with progressive governance," Abdullahi stated in a brief video message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The resignation comes amid a broader wave of defections eroding the PDP's northern stronghold.
Just last year, several high-profile figures, including former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, exited the party citing similar frustrations.
In Kaduna, where the APC holds sway under Governor Uba Sani, Abdullahi's move is seen as a strategic masterstroke for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
