Former PDP National Secretary, Udeh-Okoye Resigns From Party

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been dealt a significant blow with the resignation of its former National Secretary, Sunday Udeh-Okoye, who cited the party’s drift from its core principles of unity, justice, and equity.

In a heartfelt letter addressed to the Agbogugu Ward Chairman in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Udeh-Okoye announced his exit, marking the end of a decades-long association with the party that once dominated Nigeria’s political landscape.

In his resignation letter, Udeh-Okoye expressed gratitude for the opportunities the PDP afforded him, including his tenure as a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly and as the party’s National Youth Leader.

“I am deeply thankful for the platform the PDP provided me to serve Nigeria,” he wrote.

“However, I can no longer align with a party that has lost its founding ideals and deviated from its mission as a champion of democratic governance.”

Udeh-Okoye’s departure adds to a string of high-profile exits from the PDP, which has struggled to maintain cohesion since its loss of national power in 2015.

His critique centered on the party’s failure to uphold the values that once defined it as Nigeria’s foremost political force.

“The PDP was built on unity, justice, and equity,” he stated. “Today, it has strayed far from that vision, leaving many of us disillusioned.”

While Udeh-Okoye remained tight-lipped about his next political move, he hinted at a new chapter, expressing a desire to embark on a “progressive journey” aimed at restoring democratic values in Nigeria.
