The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa Division following a viral video that surfaced on X on Tuesday, October 22, 2025, showing the officer slapping an unidentified young man before forcing him into a patrol van.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by Josephine Edeh, the command’s spokesperson, FCT Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye condemned the officer’s actions as “unprofessional and unacceptable,” stating they fell short of the expected standards of discipline and civility.
“The officer has been redeployed, and an investigation is underway,” the statement read.Dantawaye reiterated that all divisional police officers and their subordinates must uphold courtesy and professionalism, warning that any misconduct or abuse of power would face severe consequences.
He also called on residents to maintain respectful interactions with police to foster effective community policing.
