As part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to ensure consistent electricity in Nigeria’s health facilities, the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) has launched a 7MW solar power project at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH).
The initiative follows an ECN energy audit that exposed the hospital’s heavy reliance on the national grid and the unsustainable cost of diesel generators.
The project addresses recent prolonged blackouts at AKTH, which tragically led to loss of lives in the Intensive Care Unit.
The Presidency announced that similar solar power projects are being implemented in major health institutions nationwide to enhance healthcare delivery through reliable power supply.
