Themed “Nigerian Women & The Power of Collective Action,” the event aims to unite grassroots women, policymakers, and thought leaders to drive transformative policies and sustainable development through unified action.
According to a statement by Emmanuel Olonade, Communications Officer at wfm917.com, VOW2025 will feature prominent figures, including former South African Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, Minister of Women Affairs Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and British Deputy High Commissioner Gill Lever.
Other notable attendees include Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Hansatu Adegbite, Sherifat Taleat, and Funmilola Paseda Oladoyinbo.
The conference will host keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chats, and exhibitions, building on the momentum of VOW2024, which emphasized women’s inclusion for a sustainable Nigeria.
The event is designed to foster collaboration across social classes, regions, and sectors, amplifying women’s voices in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Toun Okewale Sonaiya, the convener of VOW, described the platform as a vital space for unity.
“Irrespective of political affiliation, economic status, ethnic background, faith, age, ability, or disability, women must support women. Only then can Nigerian women move from passive participants in governance and leadership to becoming the decisive force that shapes it,” she said.
VOW2025 will serve as an inclusive platform, bringing together government, civil society, grassroots organizations, the private sector, and the media to inspire action and strengthen women’s contributions to national development.
The event is poised to spark critical conversations and initiatives to advance gender equality and sustainable progress in Nigeria.
