The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has directed its members to immediately cease gas and crude oil supplies to Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
The order, issued by General Secretary Comrade Lumumba Ighotemu Okugbawa, also mandates halting vessel loading operations for the refinery.In a letter from the National Secretariat, PENGASSAN accused the refinery’s management of terminating unionized workers’ employment in response to their constitutional right to unionize.
The union criticized the management for resorting to misinformation and propaganda instead of engaging in constructive dialogue to resolve the issue.
The letter stated: “The Management of Dangote Petroleum Refinery has disengaged our members for exercising their right to unionize. Rather than engaging meaningfully with us, they have pursued misinformation to justify this illegality.
"Consequently, you are directed to cut off gas supply to NGIC and shut all crude oil supply valves to the Refinery effective immediately. Vessel loading operations for the Refinery must also be halted.”
PENGASSAN instructed the NGIC Chairman to ensure immediate compliance and urged all chairmen to report progress promptly. The letter concluded with a call for solidarity: “Injury to one, injury to all.”
