Kano State Converts 4,315 Volunteer Teachers to Permanent Staff

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the conversion of 4,315 volunteer teachers from the BESDA program into permanent, pensionable positions.

This follows previous recruitments of 5,500 teachers in 2023, 5,632 in 2024, and 4,000 in May 2025, all integrated into the state’s education workforce.

Governor Yusuf also announced plans to hire 2,616 additional teachers to bolster the education sector.

In a post on X, he outlined further initiatives, including a ₦200 million vehicle loan scheme, the distribution of 444 motorcycles, and 300 computers to improve school monitoring.

Additionally, the governor ordered the reopening of Shehu Minjibir Boarding Primary School with 180 pupils, the upgrade of a school in Ungogo to a boarding facility, and the deployment of 17,000 watchmen across schools.

Yusuf highlighted the success of these reforms, noting Kano’s top performance in the 2025 NECO examination as evidence of progress in the state’s education system.
