Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, held a closed-door meeting with key stakeholders at Government House to address insecurity and developmental challenges.
The gathering included political leaders, security experts, traditional rulers, scholars, and business executives, aiming to assess progress and devise strategies for lasting peace.
152 Homes, Business Support for IDPs AnnouncedDeputy Governor Faruk Lawal, in his opening remarks, highlighted the Radda administration’s “Building Your Future” policy, which has created 35,903 jobs across sectors like education, community security, and peacebuilding initiatives.
The Katsina Urban Renewal project, spanning Daura, Funtua, and Katsina senatorial districts, has seen ₦74.9 billion invested in infrastructure, including the 24-km Eastern Bypass, road dualization, and rural road development.In education, the state built 160 new classrooms, rehabilitated 258, trained 18,000 teachers, established three model schools, upgraded 152 schools under AGILE projects, and awarded ₦6.18 billion in scholarships to 174,451 students, including overseas sponsorships.
Agriculture received a boost with 400,000 bags of subsidized fertilizer distributed annually, 400 tractors procured, 4,000 irrigation pumps provided, and the Goat Rearing Initiative launched to empower women and herders.On workers’ welfare, ₦24 billion was paid in gratuities, alongside wage awards, Ramadan packages, civil service reforms, and large-scale food distributions.
Healthcare saw 260 primary health centers built or upgraded, general hospital renovations, and new dialysis and diagnostic centers. Water projects received ₦14.6 billion, with major dams, irrigation schemes, and solar-powered boreholes completed.
Land administration was modernized through KATGIS, with ₦3.17 billion paid in landowner compensation.The energy sector recorded ₦3.84 billion in solar mini-grids, 74 km of solar streetlights, high-tension power line restoration, and transformer upgrades, signaling robust development across multiple sectors.
