Vice President Kashim Shettima announced the launch of a single-window platform to simplify land registration and improve access to agricultural credit, a key initiative under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking at the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) National and Subregional Hand-in-Hand Investment Forum in Abuja, Shettima outlined measures to enhance irrigation, promote mechanization, and drive Nigeria’s agricultural potential.
Shettima emphasized the need for mechanization to reduce labor-intensive farming and boost productivity, alongside a strengthened credit system to ensure farmers access vital capital.
“The vehicle to securing national food and nutrition sufficiency is the quality of policies we prioritize,” he stated.
The initiatives align with the National Development Plan (2021–2025), which aims to lift 35 million Nigerians out of poverty, create 21 million full-time jobs in rural and agrarian communities, and achieve food security through strategic agricultural investments.
These reforms are designed to unlock Nigeria’s vast food production capabilities, fostering economic growth and sustainability.
