FAAN Launch Cashless Payments at Airport Gates, Car Parks, VIP Lounges

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has unveiled a bold step toward modernizing airport operations, announcing that starting September 29, 2025, all payments at its revenue points, including airport access gates, car parks, and VIP and protocol lounges will transition to fully electronic transactions.

The initiative, dubbed "Operation Go Cashless," aims to enhance transparency, streamline services, and align Nigeria’s airports with global digital standards.

In a statement released on Friday, FAAN detailed the rollout, which will kick off at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The agency has partnered with Paystack to introduce a contactless payment solution, the FAAN Go Cashless Card, available for purchase at access gates in both cities.

“This move will deliver faster, more secure, and seamless services to travellers and airport users,” the statement read, emphasizing the phase-out of cash payments at designated points.

To ensure a smooth transition, FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors at access gates and terminal areas to assist users.

These ambassadors will guide passengers through onboarding, offer demonstrations, and address any questions about the new system.

The agency emphasised its commitment to modern operations, stating that the initiative is a key part of its broader effort to elevate Nigeria’s aviation sector to international benchmarks.

Airport users are encouraged to prepare for the shift as cash transactions will no longer be accepted at these points starting Sunday.

With this development, FAAN aims to reduce delays, curb revenue leakages, and provide a more efficient experience for millions of travelers passing through Nigeria’s airports.
