Delta State is poised to transform its energy and agricultural landscape through a strategic partnership with JAMPUR Group, a leading energy solutions provider.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori announced the collaboration following a high-level meeting with JAMPUR’s management, led by CEO Mohammad Shafiq, at Government House, Asaba, on Tuesday.
The discussions centered on tapping investment opportunities in the state’s energy and agro-allied sectors to drive economic growth and sustainability.
In a post on X, Governor Oborevwori highlighted the potential of the partnership, noting that the Federal Government’s unbundling of the power sector and Delta’s new power sector law provide a robust regulatory framework to protect investors.
“We are exploring areas of collaboration to include power generation, smart meter production, a fertiliser blending plant, and a solar panel production plant,” he stated, emphasizing the state’s commitment to fostering innovative energy solutions and agricultural development.
The governor directed Delta’s Economic Management Team (EMT) to engage further with JAMPUR Group on due diligence, financing options, and projected outcomes. JAMPUR’s proven track record in delivering end-to-end energy solutions, including projects in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), positions it as a key partner in Delta’s ambitious plans.
The initiatives under discussion aim to bolster power reliability, enhance agricultural productivity through local fertiliser production, and promote renewable energy via solar panel manufacturing.
“This partnership aligns with our vision to diversify Delta’s economy and create sustainable opportunities for our people,” Oborevwori added.
The move is expected to attract significant investment, generate jobs, and position Delta as a hub for energy innovation in the region. As talks progress, stakeholders are optimistic that the collaboration will yield transformative results for the state’s economy.
