Alhaji Ahmad Oladoke Aladesawe, the revered Chief Imam of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas, passed away at 91 on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Center, Owo, Ondo State.
The announcement was made on Tuesday by Alhaji Kamorudeen Ishola, a prominent Muslim leader in Owo, who described the late Imam as a distinguished Islamic scholar and community leader dedicated to advancing Islam in Nigeria.
The Imam’s burial is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday in his hometown, Owo, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in Ondo State expressed deep condolences to his family, the Owo Muslim community, and the nation.
Alhaji Abdulwaasii Yusuf, NACOMYO’s State Commissioner, praised Aladesawe as a pillar of support for the organization and one of the greatest Islamic scholars in Ondo State.
“May Allah accept his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings, and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Ameen,” Yusuf stated.
Before his passing, Sheikh Aladesawe served as the Secretary General of Imams and Alfas across the South West, Edo, and Delta States.
He was widely respected for his contributions to Islam and peace-building efforts in Ondo State and beyond.
His death has been mourned as a significant loss to the Muslim community and the state, with sympathizers offering prayers for his soul to find eternal rest in Aljanna Firdaus.
