A Sagamu High Court in Ogun State has issued an interim ex parte order barring the state government and its agents from demolishing or interfering with properties owned by former governor Gbenga Daniel and his wife, Yeye Olufunke Daniel.
The order was granted following an affidavit of urgency filed by the claimants through their lawyer, A.M. Kotoye SAN, in three separate suits (HCS/371/2025, HCS/372/2025, and HCS/373/2025).
The suits sought to restrain Governor Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State Attorney General, the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, and the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development from tampering with Asoludero Court, a property owned by Daniel’s wife, and Conference Hotel and Blue Chapel Limited, all located in Sagamu.
The properties in question include Asoludero Court, situated on Block 1, Plots 7 & 8 of Block XXXVIII, Plot 1 & 12, within the amended Government Reservation Area, which Daniel claims has a Certificate of Occupancy (No. LUD3/LR2693, dated January 20, 2010).
The ex parte motion, dated and filed on August 11, 2025, was moved by Kotoye before Justice O.S. Oloyede, who ruled that urgent action was necessary based on the affidavits provided.
The court issued an interim order restraining the defendants and their agents from interfering with the properties and adjourned the case to August 19, 2025, for a hearing on the application for an interlocutory injunction.
The state government had previously issued quit and demolition notices targeting Daniel’s residence, Asoludero Court, and Conference Hotel, including its annex, located at Obafemi Awolowo Avenue, GRA, Sagamu.
Daniel described the notices as political persecution, while Governor Abiodun countered that they were part of a statutory land audit, urging Daniel to comply with the law and stating that no one is above the state.
