Ose Anenih, son of the late Chief Anthony Anenih, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced his resignation from the party, citing a need to prioritize family and step away from active politics.
In a letter dated August 18, 2025, addressed to the Ward Chairman of PDP in Arue Ward 3, Uromi, Edo State, Anenih described his decision as deliberate and the result of deep reflection.
“This decision was not made lightly,” Anenih wrote. “I have stood with the PDP through its triumphs and trials, bound by a belief in Nigerian democracy and the ideals that drew me to the Umbrella.”
He reflected on the meaningful relationships and experiences gained during his time with the party but emphasized that his current priorities lie elsewhere.
“At this point in my life, I must step back from partisan politics. My duty now lies with my family and other responsibilities that demand my full attention,” he stated.
Anenih reaffirmed his commitment to Nigeria’s progress, pledging to remain engaged in intellectual and civic efforts to enhance governance and improve citizens’ lives.
The resignation comes against the backdrop of ongoing political realignments within the PDP at both state and national levels.
The late Chief Anthony Anenih, a key figure in the PDP’s formation, was instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, making his son’s departure a notable development in the party’s evolving dynamics.
